SHIFTING THE WINTER WEIGHT

Hello Everyone! I hope you’re all having a faaabbb week and you’ve kickstarted your 2018 in the best possible way!

Most of the time, people have resolutions of losing weight, or eating healthier foods, due to the over-indulgence at Christmas time, so I guess I’m introducing you to one of my favourite workouts/exercises that help me get fit and tone up. I take inspiration from other online bloggers and fitness lovers, such as Danielle Peazer and Niomi Smart. If you’re not familiar with them, then I’d definitely check them out here: Danielle’s youtube and Niomi’s Blog. They both post about health, wellbeing, fitness (and a few other things). They’re both my fitness inspiration, lets be real. They’re just incredible.

Recently I’ve been really into my running, which can be a workout in itself. But of course, not everyone enjoys running, and the key to working out is all about enjoying yourself and getting fit! So here’s a little list of ideas to help you get fit and shift the winter weight.

  • Dancing

Dancing can be so much fun! You can sign up to a dance class, such as Zumba, or you can just dance at home with the music on full blast. It gets you moving, and it makes you feel good on the inside! You don’t need ballet slippers or any professional equipment, you could even do it in your jammies, it’s perfect.

  • 30 Day Challenges

So you’ve probably all seen this on social media, but there are a variety of apps that you can download on your phone, and they send you reminders every day to make sure you achieve the daily goal. The main challenges I’ve come across are the Plank Challenge, the Ab Challenge and the Squat Challenge. These apps are great for toning up, and are fab if you have limited time or can’t afford a gym membership.

  • Find a Fitness Pal!

If you’ve got a friend to keep you motivated, then you’re probably going to stick at it. Then if either of you are feeling disheartened or unmotivated, the other person can pick you up and remind you why you want to work out in the first place! You could go to classes together, jog together, or do your own exercises with one another.

  • Change it up!

If you keep doing the same class, or the same exercise every time you work out, then you’re only going to get bored. Your body will get used to it, and you’ll stop seeing changes in yourself. Keep things fresh and new, try out different classes every week to keep your routines exciting! This will keep you motivated and will work different muscle groups (depending on the classes you take).

  • Food

This one can be difficult, food is good stuff, but it’s important you’re feeding your body the right kind of fuel to keep it working properly. Feeling your body on fizzy juice and too much bad food is going to leave you feeling sluggish, and you won’t see much difference. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be dull either. There’s a quote I love which is ‘Abs are made in the kitchen’ and it is so true. You can’t expect a body like Beyoncé if you’re only putting work in at the gym, and not in the kitchen.
