I hope you’re all having a fantastic week so far!
Now, this blog post is a little different to my kind of blog-genre. But please do stick around to the end.
Back in May, my father, brother and I all decided to apply for the ballot for the London Marathon 2018. As well as this, we also applied to several different charities, and then the wait began… During October the ballot results were announced, and unfortunately neither of us had been given a place. My father was lucky enough to gain a place with the Army Benevolent Fund, but unfortunately my brother hasn’t had much luck at all.
Now, lets rewind back to last week. I received a phone call from a young man at the Royal British Legion office, who wanted to speak to me about the marathon and why I had applied. So it was essentially a telephone interview which ended with a great outcome!
I was offered a place on Team Legion!
I was more than happy, but now the hard work has to start. I have to fundraise, and train so that I can complete the marathon safely. I’m not going to lie to you guys, I am absolutely petrified about running the marathon, it is going to be one hell of a challenge but I get to complete the challenge, and cross the finish line with my dad.
Up until recently, I didn’t tell anyone that I was going for the London Marathon (other than my family and Nathan), because i wasn’t 100% sure if I would even gain a place, and on top of that I just didn’t want any negativity. I am not a runner, but over the next 6 months I am definitely going to train myself to become one.
Thank you for sticking around to read the whole post!
